General Plant Notes: One of the most spectacular plants for a planted tank when growing under ideal conditions. Ideal conditions are soft to moderately hard water, CO2 injection, plenty of iron, and lots of light. Shading can be a big problem and care should be taken not to place the plants too close together. Kasselmann mentions good circulation and water temperature of 75F to 82F as being very important also. Provide the right conditions for
R. macrandra and you'll not be disappointed. People often ask me when viewing my tanks with
R. macrandra, "is that a real plant"? Any plant that makes folks wonder if it's real is a supreme compliment in my mind.
