Aquarium Plants

My views, Steve Hampton, on how to succeed with aquarium plants

Dwarf Bacopa (Bacopa monnieri)

Common name or synonym: Dwarf Bacopa

Scientific name: Bacopa monnieri

Pronunciation: buh-KOH-puh mon-ee-ER-ee

Family: Scrophulariaceae

Origin or range: Pantropic - distributed throughout the tropics

Type of Plant: Stem

Difficulty: Moderate

Area of tank best suited for: Foreground to Midground

Plant light requirements: Moderate

Propagation: Cuttings

General plant notes: Wide temperature range makes this plant happy and tolerates brackish water as well as very hard to soft. While it can be grown successfully in Moderate light it does need strong lighting to keep from growing too leggy, under strong lighting this plant shows a more attractive and compact growth form. Does great when grouped together in a minimum of 6-10 stems that are planted in a sloped row.
