My views, Steve Hampton, on how to succeed with aquarium plants

Giant Bacopa (Bacopa caroliniana)

Common name or synonym: Giant Bacopa

Scientific name: Bacopa caroliniana

Family: Scrophulariaceae

Origin or range: North and Central America

Type of Plant: Stem

Difficulty: Easy

Area of tank best suited for: Midground to Background

Plant light requirements: Moderate

Propagation: Cuttings

General plant notes: Slow growing stem plant that is very erect and makes a nice grouping contrast in an aquascape with its light green smaller leaves. Produces small purple flowers on emersed growth. While this plant seems to do best in soft water, it can be grown very successfully in hard water if if has ample CO2 and nutrients. It is fairly sensitive to high temperatures.
